about

Bajofondo Tangoclub

It begins…

Campodónico and Santaolalla met while recording, when the former was part of Peyote Asesino. In that studio album, the Uruguayan band began to sample vinyl by Astor Piazzolla and Alfredo Zitarrosa, fusing tango and milonga and hip hop. Years later, in Madrid, Campodónico (who was producing an album for Jorge Drexler) and Santaolalla met again.

Gustavo told him an idea that had been around for some time: putting together an electronic music label with Latin roots. It was the beginning of Bajofondo Tango Club.
